Week Sixteen: “Blueberry Pie”

The honky tonks in Atlanta
close early around 3am
I’m walking a warm night on Peachtree
thinking about you again

The ghost of your touch keeps me weeping
the sound of your voice gives me shakes
So I spend all my money in an all-night diner
stuffing my face full of cakes

All I’ll bury my sorrows in blueberry pie
and pizza and nachos and chili cheese fries
and I’m eating my heart out
eating to death over you

For breakfast I’ll have a shrimp cocktail
For lunch I’ll eat two pounds of ham
For dinner I’ll think of the curve your smile
now given to another man

[Chorus]

And when it is time to go home now
to a house full of sadness and hurt
I’ll stumble outside with egg on my face,
catch a cab and go search for desert

[Chorus]

The honky tonks in Atlanta
close early around 3am
I’m walking a warm night on Peachtree
thinking about you again
