Week Twenty-Three: “Rochambeau”

Three little girls
born from the same four hands
grew up so tough
Mom and Dad didn’t understand
Was it something they did
or something they said

Janet was the crazy one
liked to cut loose every night
Bonnie was the sturdy one
knew her wrongs from her rights
Filly was so fine
but not a thought in her head

It’s a game of Rochambeau
Rochambeau
It’s a game of Rochambeau
Rochambeau
It’s a game of Rochambeau
Rochambeau

Bonnie could crush you flat
like a wrestler with a chair
and Janet could shred you
with a sidewise glance
Filly just fell upon you
and stole all your air

It’s a game of Rochambeau
Rochambeau
It’s a game of Rochambeau
Rochambeau
It’s a game of Rochambeau
Rochambeau

But when they were grown
living on their own
fending for themselves
Turns out nobody cares
about playing fair
with the hand they’re dealth
Three girls on the street
think they got it beat
think they got it won
when some mother’s son
points his finger and thumb
and calls it a gun

It’s a game of Rochambeau
Rochambeau
It’s a game of Rochambeau
Rochambeau
It’s a game of Rochambeau
Rochambeau
