Week Twenty-Six: “Sail Me Away”

Sail me away, O Captain Pabst
Sail me away, o’er the waves of the lake
Sail me away, for my life has collapsed
Sail me away from my latest mistake

Sail me away, where no one shall find me
Sail me away, on the boards of your skiff
I’ve left my name on the shoreline behind me
But if you must call me, just call my Biff

I’ll sing to the heavens, I’ll sing to the hells
Weddings and funerals ring the same bells
And I’ll tie a blue ribbon around your maps
I’ll sing to the galley and sing to the table
and ever my glass shall be filled with your label
Please sail me away, O Captain Pabst

Sail me away, though I’m barely a seaman
Sail me away, though I’m not your best choice
My gut’s always churnin’, and my head’s always dreamin’
My hands may be weak, but I’ve got a strong voice

Sail me away, for my age is now thirty
And I’m miles away from all of my dreams
My heart’s like like a rag doll, trampled and dirty
And a life on the land will rip out my seams
