Week Thirty-Seven: “Last Morning”

Bartender buy me a drink
It’s 9am
and I like my breakfast neat
You may think I am some
inveterate cheat
But I’m turning my life around I think

Whoa, this is the last morning
Whoa, this is the last morning
Whoa, this is the last morning
that I wake up alone
that I wake up alone

Bartender you shoulda seen
the pool of something
I slept in last night
They stole my shoes even though
I was holding them tight
The world is tough
you know what I mean

Whoa, this is the last morning
Whoa, this is the last morning
Whoa, this is the last morning
that I wake up alone
that I wake up alone

What makes a man think
he can get what he wants
without paying
It’s what makes a wolf think
he can get at the moon
just by baying

Bartender buy me one more
I’m like a hobbit
not one breakfast but two
Luck’s just a coin
One side is me and one’ you
So let’s make a bet
a woman walks through that door

Whoa, this is the last morning
Whoa, this is the last morning
Whoa, this is the last morning
that I wake up alone
that I wake up alone
