Week Forty-Eight: “Last of the True Salem Witches”

Tumble onto the dance floor
Swing your hips the the old one-two
The boys all think you’re here for them
but I know you’re only here for you

Well it’s your last chance at something grand
College is only three months away
And no one’s told you that they love you yet
No one’s held you close and begged you to stay

You’re the last of the true Salem witches
The earth is your lover and the moon is your queen
You’re the last of the true Salem witches
No one could imagine the things that you’ve seen

Bobby Kennedy snuck in some pills
He gave you one and then he made you cry
The music stopped and the spotlight dimmed
as if it couldn’t look you in the eye

You stole his car and jumped it off the rocks
into the mist, and that is how the story’s told
But I know better and so do you
The ocean’s always deep and always cold
Always cold, always cold

You’re the last of the true Salem witches
The earth is your lover and the moon is your queen
You’re the last of the true Salem witches
No one could imagine the things that you’ve seen
